My apple TV will not work on Denon AVR 1912 but works fine when I connect it directly to TV via same HDMI connection

Is the Denon's input configurable - AppleTV outputs 720p - the Denon would need to be able to accept this on the input - I would expect it would but AppleTV has a poor compatibility history with many HDMI swicthes/AV amps/recievers even if it works via a direct connection.

Have you tried swapping HDMI leads around?

I have a Denon 1910 and it works just fine. The problem is most likely your input config on the Denon. Denon AVRs have lots of options and are not easily configured by novices. Consult the manual for the 1912 and you will probably resolve the issue. Have you gotten any device i.e. a bluray player, cable box, etc to show through the denon? If so, unplug that devices cable and hook to the ATV and see what happens. The black screen makes me think you inputs are not assigned properly.

Low power consumption (6W), small size, much faster with video navgations and better menu resposniveness.

Depedning on where you live certain additional services may be available eg playing TV Show prurchases and itunes Match content from the cloud, Netflix, certain US centric sports streams, video Airplay from iOS devices.

It loses storage so internet or LAN iTunes is essential for use can't Airplay audio to an Airport Express or AppleTV1, can't do itunes Extras/Lp and has poorer TV show grouping.

Yes this worked for me. Ran Setup under the Denon's menu and told it that I was connecting a device to that port via HDMI. Works fine now. Thanks!
