Added my email account from comcast.net to my iPhone 4. When I delete emails from the phone, they keep coming back. Anyone have a solution for this?

I have a MacBookPro with OS 10.9.4. Checking "software update" (the App Store), It is apparently up to date. I am using Mail 7.3 (1878.6). There are seven messages from five different, unrelated legitimate senders (that is, they are not spam), sent to me at my gmail address that is forwarded to Mail, dated April 29, 2014 to June 23, 2014, which, regardless of how often I delete them, keep re-appearing. No other messages before or after those dates behave this way. In other words, except for these seven "indestructible" messages, Mail functions properly. I will greatly appreciate any ideas.
Thanks!!
This solved my problem which I've had now for 5 months... I never cared to fix it until tonight, so I'm glad I found this post. 🙂
For anyone that's interested, I use IMAP settings on all devices with a Gmail server...
BTW, it feels strange not seeing them there after 5 months. 😁
"Response" to my post of July 14, 2014: In the past two weeks, I have continued tweaking Mail and Gmail, and finally the seven messages seem to have disappeared. I cannot say exactly what accomplished that. Also, during this time, I have installed Postbox (when it seemed that was the only way to get around this issue). For those who may be interested, I have found the switch from Mail to Postbox to be seamless ... and the seven messages never appeared in Postbox (even before I finally got rid of them in Mail).
My iPad has just started doing this a couple of days ago. It happen when hotmail wouldn't work for me. I was trying to check my mail but it said I wasn't connect to the internet but I was. Anyways I'm not sure what msn did or hotmail whatever one because it was once pop live now when I put the mail on my iPad it's IMAP and that's it. Does anyone know what they did and if that's the reason why I always get my deleted mail again and again. It's freaking annoying.
Nevermind I just which to outlook instead of others for my mail and it went through. So far I haven't gotten any deleted mail yet.
All i did was reboot my phone and then I was able to delete.
My email does't use a POP account and it's happening to me. As for the suggestion that Gmail is the problem... guess what, I don't use Gmail either.
"I changed my preference under Accounts>Advanced>Remove copy from server after retrieving a message: to 'immediately', and that solved the problem."
I go into Accounts>Advanced and that's as far as I get - no option to instruct to remove from server. I'm guessing you've upgraded to Mavericks?
pretty smarmy response matthew morgan. this is a legit complaint.
I only access my emails from my iPhone 5s. The only other "electronic" device I use is a Dell Laptop that is almost 6 years old. I log into my emails directly into gmail and yahoo via their website.
However, When I delete emails from my iPhone they keep showing back up. There is no pattern that I can figure out. Sometimes they will show back up as unread emails and sometimes they will show back up as ready emails. How can I get deleted emails to stay deleted?
"It is NOT Apple's problem. It IS YOUR email provider using a "POP" email account."
It is Apple's problem if it is only happening on Apple devices. I never had this problem with my Blackberry or Sidekick. I do have this problem with iPhone 5s, using Yahoo mail, and the current OS.
(Side note: "Are you having a problem understanding English?" leaves me to wonder if you have a problem with manners.)
Since Apple does not provide your email service, internet service, nor run the servers that do control your email behaviors, then no, it is NOT an Apple problem. The phone logs into the account and pulls mail according to whatever settings are on the account and in the phone.. Is that not simple enough for you? A phone can only access what YOU tell it to. I suppose you also blame Apple when you or someone else leaves a device lying around and it gets stolen? lol
And wow, what a shock! It's happening on Android phones too and even conmputers! *facepalm* Who knew?? Since you experts know it's an Apple issue....... https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/810340?tstart=0 https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/47021/~/droi d---deleted-emails-are-reappearing http://drippler.com/drip/samsung-galaxy-s3-emails-reappear-after-deletion-how-fi x http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/56930/email-wont-stay-deleted-imap
