Address Book label printing

I am trying to print mailing labels for all members of a group in Address Book using a Brother QL-500 Label printer. The label stock is Brother DK-11201 standard address labels.

How do I set it up?

I can't get a label to print from my Contacts showing both the addressee's name AND company name - using the DYMO software. And I can't print a label directly from Contacts - even though there is a DYMO option already listed in the Layout > Page: menu - because the label comes out end-wise but Contacts will only let me print side-to-side. I'm using #30251 labels - is there another tape available that allows me to use that preset?

If I have to re-enter 1000 addresses into a DYMO address book I'm going to be REALLY not happy. And if I have to organize them one at a time into groups, DYMO might make a hole in my window.

I've been playing with it a little more and I do get both Name and Company Name most times, but not always. Not sure the difference, both cases have the company name in the correct field in Address Book - I thought that might be it.

I can edit each address one label at a time as it apears in the "current address" window of the Dymo program, but that's a pain. I bought the DYMO because I saw the DYMO preset in Address Book's Print window with three choices of label size. Somebody somewhere had in mind that the two would work as seamlessly as with Avery labels.

This is what I see in the Apple print window:

This is what I get (except I've changed the name...):

Thank you for the response. By the looks of that screen shot, that program is not Dymo Label Software, so please could you tell us which Dymo program and version you do have installed? And also it would be helpful to know if the labels used are original Dymo Labels. For that, could you please, send us a picture of the back side of the label, where the pattern is, to check it they are the Dymo ones? That additional info will be helpful. Thank you very much! ^CP

No that isn't the Dymo software - I said "Apple print window" meaning the print window you see when you try to print from Apple's Contacts application. Used to be called Address Book...

Those are the labels that CAME WITH the 450 I just bought this month. I installed the software that came with the printer. But that's not the question.

Question is: Why does the label print side-ways across the end of the label? It looks corrent in the preview window - I want it to print LIKE THAT.

If you look at that screenshot again, the DYMO that appears in the page menu is a choice already present in the application - so is the "Address Labels". The default values are "Avery Standard" and "5161" - I click the arrows and select DYMO from a list and then I select Address Labels from the other list and the preview looks exactly like I would expect because it appears as though someone from Dymo talked to someone at Apple and made it that way.

But the address prints sideways across the end of the label. And no I did not accidentally load the labels into the printer SIDEWAYS. They feed out of the printer perfectly.

I don't have to use Avery software to print on Avery labels - I can print them directly from Apple Contacts. And for that matter, I don't have to print on my Epson printer using Epson software. Know what I mean?

All indications in Apple Contacts are that I should be able to print to the Dymo directly from Apple Contacts. And that's what I would like to do. That's why I bought this thing - because this same list that includes the DYMO option does not include a BROTHER option.

Thank you for the detailed response. If you print from Apple's contact application the label options (where you have selected Layout>Page>Address Labels) are very limited and the issue can come from a unapropriate size selection which will affect the final result. I am sorry for the inconvenience but we do not support that.

On the other hand, Dymo Label Software 8.5 offers automatic synchronization with Mac Address Book. You will be able to print from the Dymo Software without any problem using this function. You won't have to add the contacts one by one. They'll be automatically synchronized and you will have more options to edit the labels. If you already have all your contacts saved in the Mac Address Book, you can choose to display those contacts on the Address Book tab.Just simple select in Address Book>Address Book source and select Mac Address Book. ^CP
