How to remove bing from safari, Help!

I have this same issue but none of these solutions seem to work any further ideas???

I recently updated my java and adobe and as apart of the download I had something switch my home page to and default search to "search.strtpoint.com" which led my default search to bing, none of the above solutions worked for me either.

However, when I went to my launchpad there was an app called "reset search" that came along with something I downloaded. I clicked this and it removed this "search.strtpoint.com" from my browser. I had to change my homepage back as this was made to my homepage and when I used this "reset" app it changed my default search to bing, so I had to set that back to google and everything is working normally now.

I simply unchecked, "Enable Omnibar'' under preferences>extensions and bing finally went away.

Then, just to be safe, I deleted Omnibar because I don't even know what it is or when/why it appeared in the first place!

I simply deleted Omnibar.
Safari/ preferences/ extensions and delete that sucker!

This solved my problem! I had an extension called Omnibar which I deleted and know i don't have the Bing search engine as default anymore. Thank you!

I had the same problem. In Safari's preferences, I noticed the Omnibar extension had a dropdown menu for searching. I changed it to 'default' and made sure 'Searching' tab in Safari's preferences was set to Google. Problem solved.

Thanks so much! That did it!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙂) There seemed to be an unknown extension and also said "Genio" ( I dislike Genio as much as I dislike Bing. Full-on parasites of the world wide web) Gone. Thanks a million! 🙂)

now THAT fixed the incredibly annoying Bing search issue....Genieo and InstallMac (same software) is adware. read more than I'm willing to re-type here...http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/

This answer worked well for me. Man, that short stay with Bing was ugly. Thanks for the help.

Removing Omibar worked perfectly for me. I believe this problem happened when some adware was installed on our iMac without our knowledge.

dan one with spirit - this worked for me and was the easiest of all solutions. I hope this gets rid of Bing forever. If I see it again, I will look here or be back asking this question again. But I am hoping this will keep Bing from butting its ugly head in where it's not welcome.
