I am from india. I have an iphone 4s brought from UK which is carrier locked to O2 network. Can anyone let me khow, how i can get the phone unlocked as apart from the o2 sim card , no other micro sim is able to activate this phone.You response is highly appreciated.

It doesn't look like you can unlock it yet through O2. O2 do allow unlocks but they are not currently available for iPhone 4s or the iPhone 4 8GB

Thanks for the quick response. I have taken this phone in 'Pay And Go', and as per the information specified in the website, unlocking seems to be a remote posssibility.Could you please suggest me any other alternative.
It will become possible via the method above at some point. You only cannot unlock the 4s & 4 8GB as they are fairly recent releases.
I don't really know what to do otherwise. It is possible to get the devices unlocked elsewhere at mobile phone stores or stalls. I do not know what method they use so I would not advise it. Also that may void any warranty you have.
If you can't wait for the carrier to start unlocking them (keep in mind that in almost all cases you must be a current customer of the carrier it is locked to with at least several months of paid service before they will unlock it) then sell the phone and buy one in India.
Further to Tim's comments no-one has achieved an unlock of an O2 iPhone when outside the O2 UK network
and I can also confirm that even if you were in the UK O2 are not unlocking the 4S or the iP4 8gb
There is normally a 6 month delay and there is no indication that this will change any time soon
