ssh to localhost does not work. why?

I can not ssh to mac server.

ssh is running. I can connect to port 22. but when prompted for the password, i give it my password and this it just kicks me out with the error:

"Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive)."

If it was the wrong password it would have prompted me 3 times THEN kicked me out.

So I'm giving it the right username and right password, and it's just kicking me out.

Why?

Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Jan 18 10:16:33 XXXX-Mac-Pro sshd[407]: in pam_sm_authenticate(): Failed to determine Kerberos principal name.

Jan 18 10:16:34 XXXX-Mac-Pro sshd[405]: error: PAM: user account has expired for XXXXXX from localhost via 127.0.0.1
