Address book not syncing to iCloud

You can't change it here, you have to change it at http://appleid.apple.com

Check in your email notifications prefs here: your address is given at the bottom.

I have read posts of people almost reduced to tears after they tried to change their Apple IDs; in particular when trying to consolidate muntiple old Apple IDs, like my @mac.com one, into one new one.

I have read accounts of folks spending hours online with Apple Support trying to sort things out when they messed with their Apple IDs.

It's easier for me just to remember to come back here and check for responses.

daveinfred: Sorry, my responses were intended for BikerBob - this is the sort of confusion you get into when a number of people are interleaving discussions in one thread. The email notification prefs aren't anything to do with your case (which I'm afraid I don't have an answer for).

It worked for me, not the first time but after three times turning the control panel for contacts off and on.

For iCloud sync go into Address book preferences and make sure to check the Enable This Account under your iCloud account on the accounts tab, if you have Address Book and On My Mac accounts under this tab make sure the Enable This Account check box is unselected for both and then you should have no trouble syncing contacts between your Mac, iCloud and iPhone etc.

the problem is that I don't even have an iCloud account, and I also cannot add one. If I do add one, then it says that it is adding it or on repeated occasions it says that it exist already, but it never shows up.

I can only see On My Account, but I cannot actually click it. Nothing shows if I select this account. I can also not delete the On My Account since the minus button on the bottom left is grayed out.

Have the exact same problem as Dave, i.e. contacts in iCloud online, no contacts in address book on my MacBook Air. When I select "contacts" in system preferences > iCloud it tick marks it, but as soon as system preferences is closed, the next time I open system preferences it shows the tick mark for less than a second before it disapears again.

I have the same problem as the original poster. I am on Lion. Everything is fine on iCloud, but if I check Contacts in the system preferences pane for iCloud it will uncheck itself after a min or two. I have no iCloud under accounts in Address Book. If I try to add it it says "Creating iClound Account" then nothing shows up.

Did anyone with this issues figure out a fix?
