Iphone 4s sending text messages as my email adress.
When I send a text message from my iphone 4s, others receive it as a text from my email adress. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

go into settings, messages, receive at, caller id and change that to your phone number.
go into settings, messages, receive at, caller id and change that to your phone number.
That would work perfectly but, my iphone says that there are "2 adresses" that my messages can be "received at". One of which is already my phone number and the other is my email adress that it has been sending through but, it won't let me delete my email as an option. I'm pretty sure that once I can delete that from my "receive at" adresses, then the problem will be fixed. However, I can't figure out how to do that. Do you know how to or have any ideas?

do as i said above, but you should see 'caller id' below 'receive at', tap on that, it should show your email address and your phone number, tap on your phone number and it should put a checkmark next to it. that will be what shows when you send a text from now on. it's normal to have your email and phone number as 'receive at' so don't worry about that.
Settings>Messages>Recieve at>tap on your email address and sign out. you dont need an email address linked to send an imessage. The reason it is there is because of ipod touches that dont have phone numbers and need an apple id to send and recieve messages.
Thank you for this! I kept getting messages from people that asked if I was sending them from my e-mail.
Text messages are sending from my email, and when I go to change the "Receive At" in my phone, it says there's an error on my actual phone number and won't let me change it. What do I do about this?
This was the BEST help! Thank you!!!
Hi,
I've tried the advice but when I try to delete the email address it says it cannot delete it. In addition, there is nowhere to select my number from as the new 'Receive At location'. I also saw the note about signing out of email but again, there is no option to do this. Any ideas??
when I go to settings->messages-> all i see is a button to turn imessage off or on then a section with MMS/SMS .... where is everyone finding this receive at?.. I have a 4s
When I've tried to go to Messages>Receive at> it shows my phone number and email address but next to my phone is says error. And I am not allowed to tap on the phone number, only the email address. And Caller ID does not appear below. Any help/ideas on what to do next?
Try Settings>Messages>Receive At>Apple ID>Sign Out. This should allow only your phone number to be used for imessaging instead of email as well.
go to receive at >apple id >sign out >imessage is turned off now >turn it on again by signing in >now caller id is available and your phone number should be ticked >done

I have that problem too... lovelybutt, do carriers have something to do with it?
Turn your imessage off and on again. I had to do the same thing. Then do what markfrumnull said.
