How do I get rid of the Newsstand app?
How do I delete or hide the Newsstand app. If not, iis there any way to move it into a group?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

You can't delete it (and you can't choose which apps are in it). There is a way to move it into a folder, as long as you never use it - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3376369?start=0&tstart=0
The next time Cconnors does a sync if he would deselect it. Would this do?

No, you cannot remove Newstand.
Not with preinstalled Apple apps - and Newstand is a pre-installed app (closer to a folder, actually, but following the same rules).
Unfortunately the trick to put it in a folder stopped working in iOS 5.1. Instead of blocking our only way to hide this program I never use maybe Apple should make it able to go into a folder or hidden.
No it hasn't. My newsstand is in a folder on both my iPad and my Touch. It does pop out every time there's an OS upgrade or I remove apps, but you can still folderize it.
Hiding it in a folder is no longer possible in 5.1 as John said.
There is no way to remove newsstand in a jailed iPad.
We wouldn't know, nor could we comment. Discussion of jailbreaking is against forum rules. If you do the dirty deed, please remember you won't get any support here if and when you brick your iPad.
I'm running 5.1 and my Newsstand is in a folder. It did jump out when I upgraded but I got it back in.
One thing I wish Apple would do...ok, so we can't uninstall pre-installed apps, well just let us turn off the icons and make the program invisible. That would please many people.
And yes, anything that is installed on your iPad when you take it out of the box is installed on it forever.
have you upgraded to the newest 5.1 though? I had 5.1 on my phone then when the new ipad was announced i had an update but it's still 5.1 and after that update I can no longer put it in a folder. I tried for over a half hour and pre update I could do it on the first couple tries.
What is a "jailed" iPad? I've heard that term before, but don't know what it means.
The one that came out when the new iPad was announced. Unless they've updated in the last week or so.
I'm going to interpret:
Jailed - as Apple sells it
Jailbroken - with a hacked operating system to remove the controls that Apple hardwires. Since it's hacked it's not supported by Apple, and with the terms of service everyone here agreed to, nor can anyone here assist with a jailbroken device.
Google it. We're really not supposed to discuss this on the forums. It's not a good thing to do, will void your warranty and if you brick you iPad, you'll get no support.
