How do you find contacts for iMessage?

You can only message to devices that have been upgraded to ios5.

You just need to start a new conversation in Messages, and enter their Apple ID (email address). It will then verify that they have registered with iMessage, and you are good to go. iMessages will be sent using blue speech bubbles.



Or if you mean how do you find your contact list, just tap the blue cross on the line where you are about to type your message.

When you say you can't find their contacts, how did you think their contacts would appear on your iPad. You either sync, via iTunes from your computer your friends contacts to your iPad, or you create contacts directly on iPad.

You just need them to upgrade and the only way to know that is to ask them, I guess. If they have not upgraded it won't go through. Maybe call them some other way and ask. Good luck and enjoy your iPad.

You can also go into the Contacts app on your iPad and any person who's contact you have entered who is on iOS5, you just touch the Send Message button and you'll be immediately taken to iMessage and you type your message and send.......

Hi to all! I have the same request: I would to know if exist a feature that analize contact list of iPad to let me know who use iMessage and who is enable to receive and send iMessage from Apple devices. I think that a feature like this will be very appreciated by iPad users that cannot send "normal" message from it.

simple... a light blue chat bubble shows up next to each contact who is capable of communicating on imessage

I think with iOS 7 or later while u typing the name of contact in new chat, it will show the contacts in blue with which u can able to make iMassage 🙂
