My iphone started acting up the the other day the ringer volume bar not coming up
no sound on music,videos,and other, the volume does work when you like preview a ringtone in settings and it works with headphones
here is what it looked liked when i click the volume up button
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1
i have tried putting headphones in and out restarting and restoring i have tried the new beta 3 5.1 because i am a developer but i have not found a solution to fix this problem i don't know if it is hardware or software
please help
If you have fully restored the iOS probably best to take it to an Apple Store.
i know but it so far to go where i live i am hoping i can fix it my self
When you restored, did you restore to factory settings?
yea i did that 2 times to 5.0.1 and i did it 2 times to 5.1 3beta
I'd say it is hardware issue then.
i have went through most of the forums on sound promblems and i saw nothing like it so it is a good chance it might be i hope not i am going to keep looking maybe find something or somebody post the answer on this forum but i think you a lot for posting

I just had a similar problem and was about to give up when I took off the protective cover on the phone to see if maybe somehow I had clicked something accidentally. I noticed that the little button on the top left side of the phone was set to orange so I clicked switched it. As soon as I did that the phone ringer started working again. I don't know if yours is the same problem, but it might not hurt to check. :-)

Same exact problem. Even tried dropping it. Nothing :/ please tell me you found something....
Well. Um.. Knock on wood but it just started back. I haven't touched it for about 2hours and it was ringing. 🙂
