Yes, I had tried it many times but could not get success.

And you are right if iPad can sync with itunes, it should sync with ibooks author also. Thats why I thought how it possible to not sync with iBooks Author...

Could you please tell me where we have to check the preferences of the iPAD, iBooks or iTunes, which settings should be need to be done for syncing.

I had the same problem and indeed the solution is:

1-update to Ibooks 2 ( beware even if you download Ibook now you will have to wait until the first download of Ibooks is on the Ipad AND than go back to the app store and update to Ibooks 2)

2-restart Ipad

3-close and reopen Ibooks author

4 wait until you see your trial book on the booshelf on your Ipad(2)

5 preview it

Cheers

Same boat here.

ipad shows up on itunes on my mac.

ibook 2 installed. No further updates available.

ibook prefs set to sync.

rebboted endlessly

and stil ipad doesn't show up as device on ibooks author preview

nothing apears in ibooks

confused and frustrated. At least i now understand what the 'shortened sequences' disclaimer refers to the hours you have to spend tyring to get basic stuff like this to work.

Hi,

sorry, but same behaviour on my MBP:

MBP (10.8.1) with iTunes 10.6.3 (25).

iPad 2 (5.1.1 (9B206)) shows up on. Sync possible

iBooks 2.1.1 (908) on iPad installed. No further updates available.

iBooks Preferences set to Sync

iPad doesn't show up as device in iBooks Author preview window and

nothing shows in iBooks. If i disconnect the iPad and connect it again,

it shortly shows up and disappears immediatly.

Rebootet all devices in (i believe) any sequence with no success.

Has someone a hint?

Thank you...

None of these solutions work! Nada. I'm beginning to think that this feature is not going to work on my iPad 1, considering the way Apple has been designing everything for planned obsolescence lately. When I upgraded to Lion I discovered that all of my applications were no longer able to run. New versions of Photoshop, Adobe Ilustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Microsoft Office had to be purchased. I think it's the same situation here. In order to get this to work, I'm going to have to buy a new iPad. Thanks a lot Apple.

I've found that if you include some form of media that iBooks Author doesn't like, it won't let you preview or export the file. It, of course, won't tell you what the problem media file is, but it won't work until you remove it. What I've had problem with so far are images in .png format. Most work, but once in awhile one won't (seems to be those without transparent backgrounds, but that just might be a coincidence). Unless you need a transparent background on an image, I would convert all image files to JPEG format. That has worked for me.

why can't I preview ibook on my iPad?
