connect my macbook air 13 2011 to external HP monitor with better resolutions?

Hello,

I have a macbook air 13" (2011 version) I also have an external HP monitor (25" HP2509m) and right now my HP monitor is connecting to my home pc using the dvi cable.

Sometime when i'm using my macbook air, I want it to connect to the HP monitor as well. Since my dvi port is currently being used by my pc, I bought an hdmi cable and a mini adapter cable and use them to connect my macbook to the hp monitor.

It works, however the resolutions is not good enough, the best I could get was 1080p, and still it looks a bit blurry. The max resolutions for my HP monitor is 1920x1080, so my question is, how am I gonna connect my macbook air to my hp montior with 1920x1080 resolution? is it possible to use my hdmi cable to have 1920x1080? if not, how am I going to do it, as the dvi port is being occupied by my pc?

i turned underscan off, but I cant get the edges of my desktop to scale back onto the screen. it did clear the icons though

what did you do?

I couldn't get it to work for me. Just doesn't look good. So I am using the VGA only. If someone can ever figure it out that would be cool. Otherwise I'll just live with it.

Underscan is set to off for me already, so that doesn't fix the problem here. Fonts are HORRIBLE! Icons are blurry. So everyone knows, there are several threads like this. Lots of people reporting this problem. It has nothing to do with your monitors and everything to do with Apple. Please report this as a bug so they fix it.

Please don't "just live with it." Please file a bug report. It's not right that we spend $1,500 for a little laptop that underdelivers like this. They owe it to us to fix it but they won't know unless you tell them. Apparently, they don't monitor these forums. It's up to you. Here's where you do it:

I ran across this link for fixing blurry external monitors and it made a big improvement for me as well as running the calibration in the display settings.

This link has another link to a site where someone wrote a script to create an over ride display file for any monitor. I followed the instructions and it made a huge difference. I'm using a MBPr 2012.
