how do i download ios 3.0 on ipod touch 2nd generation?

You can't downgrade the iOS on an iPod. If you restore or update your iPod it will be updated to the latesd iOS for yr model iPod. That is 4.2.1 prvided youhave iTunes 10.x. If you are stuck with a Mac with OSX 10.4.1 you are limited to iTunes 9.x and that gets you to iOS 4.1.

Identifying iPod models

That doesnt seem to be the case. My daughters won't upgrade past iOS 2.2., and that is with iTunes 10.x. I just did a complete factory reset, and went to software update, but it says it is up to date.

I have found a purchase for 1st generation ipod for iOS 3, but nothing for 2nd generations.

Anything I try to get to a iOS 4 update takes me directly to iOS 5 which won't work for the 2nd generation iPod.

Help.

What is the model number of the iPOd. It is engraved on the back of the case.

- A 1G iPod can go to 2.1.2 via iTunes and 3.1.3 via a ling

- A 2G iPod can go to iOS 4.2.1 with iTunes 10.x on the computer.

Bad information given to me...sorry. After I looked it up it is indeed a 1st generation.
