Red screen on MacBook Pro

Hello,

This is my first post here on the forums and I would like to ask a question about my MacBook Pro I can't find an answer to.

I have a MBPro (2006) OSX 10.4.11 and recently the screen has gone red where Black should be (please see attached images)User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I know that it is a problem displaying Black because I have tested a black solid movie file (just a black image playing for 4 seconds) playing as a Quicktime movie on the desktop, and it shows the same red pattern when playing.

Then when I play the same movie file on another MacBook Pro it plays as a black solid movie, not patterned.

If I change the desktop dispaly to solid colour or an image with lots of colour it displays without any problems (the pattern only shows up if there are any black areas in the image)

I took the machine to a local Apple Store and the ran a diagnostic test, and all parts were ticked as working. Also I have run Apple Hardware test and rebooted in various modes all without any change.

So, has anyone suffered the same problem and does anyone know how to fix it.

Many thanks and any advice/ help is appreciated.

I have had the same issue since installing Yosemite but my screen goes green with static snow going across the screen. I was told by Apple that older versions of Macbook (mine is early 2008) might have issues with the graphics and I should take it into a Mac store to erase Yosemite and reinstall Maverick. Apple is ruining my computer by putting out "Free" software updates that are not compatable. NEW.... I got the green to go away for awhile by "redownloading Yosemite and installing over the top of the previous download. It lasted 2 days, now I have my screen freezing, and flickering like a lightning storm.! I have to hold down the power button to turn off the computer, because the pointer freezes. I also had mail issues early on, not being able to send mail in google and Yahoo accounts. Apple service techs fixed that by basically doing a delete and reinstall of all accounts. But it did take a week of inquiry and referral to the upper level tech support to get it worked out. Apple needs to either fix Yosemite or give people a method to remove it and put our computers back to the previous system without charging us to take it in to an Apple Store to fix their SCREW UPs!User uploaded file

UGH! Sorry friend! That sounds awful! Worse than my problem.

I guess I should also state my hardware/software.

I have a mid-2012 13-inch. I installed Yosemite when it first came out with no problems. This issue occurred yesterday and I can't think of any updates or downloads I did, especially not with any OS. I upgraded to 10.10.1 hoping that would fix it, but nothing happened..

I Have an urgent warning to people upgrading to Yosemite...don't do it! I upgraded from maverick which was just fine. I had issues from the start. It took Apple support a week to get back to me about mail failure to connect issues. I also brought up concerbs about my screen flashing out in a green static. I was told that it was possible that my graphics system couldn't handle Yosemite But that was an issue to require a new service request. I tried to reinstall Yosemite twice to see if I just had an interupted download problem. MY LOGIC BOARD FRIED!!! I took it to an Apple Care Certer and they told me that my 6 yr old MacBook Pro was obsulete and I should buy a new one And they said it would cost more to fix ( if they could even get parts) than the computer was worth! Mind you, I had this custom built for the sake of the technology lasting longer when I purchased it in Nov 2008. It cost me $2400. To get the best processor, graphics, memory, and hard drive options there was. IF APPLE ITSELF DOESN'T STAND BEHIND IT'S WORKMANSHIP- WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?

Is this the "GRAND PLAN " of Apple to force people into buying new products? On top of that, if I choose to no longer stay with Apple, I loose all of my data saved! I did get a second opinion from another Apple Expert and was told that it was the Logic Board and it wouldn't be cost effective to repair due to my basically having cascading failures as technology moves on. YOSEMITE IS A POISON PILL........
