Can i transfer mpeg video from PC to iPad?

Hi.

I have tons of recorded content in mpeg video format on my PC. i recorded these clips through my tv tuner card.

I want to transfer some of them to my ipad. How can i do that? And do i need to install any video players on my ipad?

Thanks for advice.

Diavonex.

Thanks for the step by step procedure. The problem almost got solved. The video was copied to my iPad and i could play it in the OPlayer i purchased for it.

However, the player is very very problematic. It crashes by itself after a very short time of starting the playback. Also crashes when i pause and play, or use 2x feature to enlarge video screen.

Is there any other better player for mpeg?

Thanks.

It crashes because you ae low in memory.

Shut down all program inning in background

1. Double-click the Home button to see Apps in background

2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minu sign

3. Tap the minus sign to close program

4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo

Suggest you perform Step 1 to 3 at the end of every day.

Unfortunately, because of the app "sandboxing", you can't just make a video available to all the other video players. (Actually, not even the videos available in the stock Videos app are available to most third-party apps.) There is Open In / file receiving capabilities in some of these players, but it only allows for sending / receiving relatively small (smaller than 200Mbytes) files and is slow and pretty unreliable.

For WMV playback, you'll want to read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-wmv-videos-%E2%80%93-complete-rou ndup - it explains everything.

Unfortunately, OPlayer - which has been also recommended in this thread - is pretty bad when it comes to WMV3 playback. If you're into WMV, get another player (GoodPlayer / AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer, depending on the content.)

Unfortunately, that's not the way to go in this particular case. The OP stated the following: "A 20 minute medium resolution mpeg2 video takes more than 1 hour o my PC to convert to mp4. Thus i cannot use Handbrake for the purpose. "

In this case, using a third-party app with MPEG2 support is the right solution. Of the bunch, I recommend one of the following:

- It's Playing (it has tons of goodies like runtime DSP's; some screenshots of them: http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/new-star-born-great-multimedia-player-its-play ing-has-been-fixed )

- GoodPlayer (excellent player, it's only at playing back Full HD videos that it has problems with, compared to, say, AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer)

- AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer (the two share almost the same set of video decoders)

well , I think you can use my way . I think it is the most easiest way . Well I think . First, you need to convert the video to mp4 format . That is the format the iPad can play . Well I use free make video to convert the video . Then , open the itunes ( you have connect the iPad with the computer ) it will sync by itself the video into the itunes . But, make sure you have enough space to sync . Then , after you sync the video , it will appear at your movies . Go to your iPad button at the upper right itunes and choose movie . Just sync and the movie is in your iPad . But , if you still insists want to use the mpeg video , that , I can't help you . Sorry 😀

Hi Amershiraz,

I have downloaded the app called playerxtreme. It works perfectly and you got to follow the same steps as Oplayer. You can simply watch your movies, there are a few things that aren't necessary to use, but to make it 'more perfect' you can upgrade the app and use the features. The app works really good, hope this helps you.

Greetings.
