I am working on a Software Defined Radio and want to try the iSDR app. It runs just fine when playing a demo audio file it comes with, but how to
input real stereo audio?
I guess you have to use a USB input? But who makes a 3.5mm to USB ADC?

Take a look at the Griffin iMic <iMic>. I think it has the USB capability you need, but you may not be able to interface it to the iPad. The only iPad USB connection is via the Camera Connection Kit. It may not be possible to use this for other types of data because of Apple's restrictions.
It may be possible to interface stereo audio to the iPad via BlueTooth. Perhaps you can find an iPad App developer who will help you.

I have found a solution. Seems that another radio enthusiast has treid the Griffin iMic and it works with the camera connection kit and the iPad. Input from the SDR to the mic input, output to headphones or MP3 speakers.

I am really new to this audio equipment and didn't know if the iMic connections (out) would fit what I have - 1/8 stereo
Ordered the iMic and will do what is needed to make it work - looks simple enough and I am probably making more out of this than is necessary.

iMic uses a standard 3.5 mm connector and has an input (line level or mic level) and output and connects/converts to USB.

If I understand Doge's reply, someone else found that the Griffin iMic is compatible with the iPad Camera Connection Kit's USB adapter. Search here for iMic. Also look at <iMic>.

I understand that it is compatible. I just wanted confirmation that what you end up with is a STEREO input.
Since the hardware in question is a microphone, you can probably safely assume that.

No one mentioned the iRig mic.
Note that the iRig mic is only a mono microphone with a stereo output (2 identical left/right channels).
The iMic is not a microphone. It is a 3.5mm audio input to USB device which will amplify microphone signals.
You can connect a stereo microphone to it if you wish and it is a stereo signal.

So earlier this year Fred*M suggested it might be possible to INPUT a stereo stream to an iPad via Bluetooth. Has anyone seen an app that could do this?
