Macintosh Accent Codes
Pages has a unique way of dealing with some of these symbols:
1. Open a Pages document.
2. In the Pages menu select 'preferences'
3. Click on the auto correct tab and check the box 'symbol and text substitution'
4. Check or uncheck the items you wish Pages to autocorrect or not. For example, typing (c) will result in ©. You can even add your own shortcuts.
One beautiful, I can't live without it, donationware is
Textpander. With this app you can make hard to type sequences into short easy to remember phrases and this works in every app on your machine. For example you could type the word copyright and Textpander will change it to ©.
