Unable to purchase.

I start having this problem since last Friday. When i go into an App Store on my iPhone 4s and try to download any app I get this error message; "unable to purchase. "Hanging With Friends" and other items could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later". First of all, I already have Hanging installed in my phone. So I click OK,the error messages goes away, and then I asked to put in my password and the phone would start download the app that i wanted to get. Along with that few other apps that i previously owned pop up on my screen with "waiting" status. ones i touch any of them, they go away. after that i can download apps fine for some time but after awhile i get this weird problem again. any suggestions?

I haven't seen the error since I posted. What I did was synch both my iPhone and my iPad to iTunes several times in a row. The first time I had a few apps that I had removed a while ago re-add themselves. I unchecked them again and then resynched. Fingers crossed that it has corrected itself. My automatic downloads made on other devices is also now working as it should.

I tried the most recent suggested resolution and it seemed like it worked at first but the errors returned.

I received a follow-up from my Apple support ticket stating that the issue is still being actively investigated but there is currently no additional information for me.

However, at least the representative is sending me regular emails with the status, even if it is no status.

You had better luck with Apple then I did. My support rep told me it was a NORMAL thing to get that error message. After all, he said, Apple has so many apps it's constantly doing work on its servers that would interfere and give this error. I was told I could try to go into SETTINGS and RESET THE NETWORK (which didn't work). He also asked if I get the error with the iPhone's WiFi off. I didnt know since I never tried.

As for my getting duplicate email whenever I get email notifications, he told me to send an email to Apple. When I pushed him for an email address to send to, he kept me on hold a long time yet still could not come up with one.

I hung up.

I too was recieving this error, but i seemed to fix it in the following way,

1. Sync with iTune via the usb cable

2. Restore affected device from backup

3. Delete the APP (or in my case album) named in the error message from affected device and iTunes

4. Re-Download APP (or album) from cloud straight onto your device

5. Sync with itunes

Since doing the above steps i`m no longer recieving the afore mentioned error.

PS. After doing the above steps I have downloaded, updated and deleted many apps over the last 24 hours without

the error showing up

Not sure how to delete from itunes on the mac but on the pc click on apps on the left, click on the app you wish to delete then hit the delete key, when asked select move to recycle bin. (you need to physically remove the app from the computer (this is needed so that iTunes downloads a fresh copy))

To restore from backup do the following

1. Connect device to computer with usb cable

2. Click on divice on the left hand pannel of iTunes

3. Click on RESTORE, when promted select MAKE BACKUP

4. After iOS has been restored iTunes will ask if you would like to Restore From Backup or Setup as New Device, Select Restore From Backup

Hope this helps

I've been having this problem on my iPad 2 for a few weeks now. It only happens when I tap "Update All" on the update page. Making purchases or downloading updates individually doesn't result in the error.

What's odd is that it appeared to originally be triggered by me trying to download an app that was too big to download over 3G. I never downloaded it and I started getting the error every time I updated all my apps.. I figured maybe if I downloaded that app it would fix the problem so I downloaded it when on Wifi. At that point it was installed and I still got the error. I tried deleting the app and I still got the error.

There seems to be something screwed up with the store account and sometimes when updating all my apps, iBooks says "waiting" even though there's no update. To get it to back to normal I have to go back into the app store and go to the updates tab.

This only happens on my iPad 2. My iPhone 4S doesn't have this problem, so it seems to be tied to the device, not the iTunes account.

I agree with you, Morac. I have been getting the same error message, but it only seems to be for apps that are too big for download over 3G (20mb).

I have since downloaded the apps over wifi but continue to get the error, even though the apps are on the iPad. After the error, the apps grey out and get a "waiting" bar that never progresses.

I have tried the fix where I transfer purchases on iTunes and update all etc but to no effect.

Tonight I might try deleting the apps in question in iTunes and will report back.

Unable to purchase.
