bootcamp time issues

I'm using a 2011 MacBook Air with bootcamp Windows 7. Whenever I boot into the Windows partitian the time is wrong. Windows does not automatically correct the time. If I manually change the time it holds until I reboot then the time correction is lost. I researched this on the web and this seems to be a common problem having to do with the Mac hardware using GMT as a universal time and Windows expecting the hardware time to be set to the default time zone. There are registry edits available on line, but I was hoping that someone (or Apple) had a solution for this problem in the form of a .exe file or driver. Any help? Thanks!

Hi, i have the same problem as you.

Currently using a MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011 and using Boot Camp into Windows 7 Professional.

Anyone knows how to solve the problem? I have a feeling its the time server that is "screwing" the time because when i click syncronise, it's successful but shows the wrong time (Yes i've set to the correct time zone)

Must be your Boot Camp which does include Apple TimeSychronization service and does use a different network time service. Windows does a check weekly. Apple does it every startup. Billions of computers checking time on every startup really necessary? Yes if you used OS X on last boot.

But BC 4.01 should work (or BC 3.x pre-Liion)

Open notepad and paste this in. Save the file as .reg (not .txt). And run it under bootcamp. It will make changes to the Windows Registry specifiying to use Universal Time (Which is what OSX uses). Set the clocks in both OS's and you'll be good to go from here on. Been using this method for about 4 years now in our IT shop. 🙂
