Picasa with photo stream

Yeah yeah I know iPhoto & Picasa don't work together & probably what I want to achieve isn't gonna work.

I prefer just one Apple feature over Picasa .

Photostream - even with the constraints of no selective delete but I prefer Picasa's edit functions and upload albums & a bit more.

Is there any way to use Photostream to grab the pics the discard iPhoto?

If I import into Picasa, I end up with a pile of nested folders each containing a single pic or a couple of pics.

I've been using picasa for over 6 years i'd guess. I do not have photos grouped the way you say they were... Picasa allows me to import pics and put them into a folder dated todays date. I also prefer to use my own folder system as opposed to iphotos events... however, after 20K pics I am questioning this.

I prefer picasa over iphoto for many, many reasons. I keep hoping apple will make the updates to equial it, yet give us photostream access!

larry you misunderstood. I hope APPLE updates IPHOTO to equal Picasa. You cannot label, write text or caption pictures the way picasa has done for years! Batch editing is streamlined, Save as works better, ... all little things, but Picasa works faster and easier.

Yes, I would contact picasa, but the only thing we are asking for here, is for photostream to auto load to our pictures files, NOT just to iphoto exclusively.

For adding text to a photo you can set preview as an external editor and use it

As to file management - iPhoto is a SQLite Databae and it is unlikelhy that that will be changed - and if you are serious about manageing photos then you would not even want that - iPhoto's photo manage system is infinantly more powerful than any file management system
