Migration assistant created a new user when transferring files from a PC to mac

I just bought a new macbook air and proceeded to transfer my itunes music files from my old PC to my new mac using the migration assistant. I could not find my music files that I had transferred in itunes on my admin user account but later found them on another user acount that I had not created. I was wondering if there was a way to collapse the two user accounts into one or transfer my music from one account to the other? (I tried using an external hard drive but it would not add my music files to the itunes library). Any ideas??

1. if MA is used during the last phase of the install process, when asked to migrate data, then data will be migrated to the default, admin account.

That might be a bit misleading:

If you use Setup Assistant during the install process, no new account is created -- it transfers whatever user accounts (and other things) you select, "as is." If two accounts are transferred in full, they'll be exactly like they were before.

You can only use the Migration Assistant app after creating at least one new account. Anything you transfer with it will be transferred intact, to the transferred accounts, except the UIDs and/or account names may have to be changed so they don't conflict with the already-existing account(s).

First, be sure "Old Mac" is an Admin account via: System Prefs > Users & Groups. See if the Allow user to administer this computer box is checked for it. If not, log on to the other account, go back there, click the padlock and enter the password for the other account, then select "Old Mac" and check the box.

That's not likely the problem, though.

On one of the old documents, select and control-click (right-click) it and select the Get Info option.

On the window that puts up, see what permissions "Old Mac" has, similar to this:
