iPad or Notebook

What would be better for college, ipad or mac notebook? For note taking and so on. I already have a Asus laptop, and I really want an iPad but the laptop I have isnt the best. So I unsure what to get.

Also iPad has no DVD either... And if your computer will be your main computer I would recommend either getting a MacBook pro or even the MacBook air and a external display. Not the 1000 ones but even one of those 15 inch dell VGA screens would do... They also sell a adapter for thunderbolt to VGA adapter which I use every day and works great with that screen

i have had the exact oposite after using PCs for 12+ years i had to re-install my system 3 times with being causious, macbook air is a better choice. also it has a very easy to use interface with os x lion. aftr using PC's for so long and then go to my new macbook pro... trust me "once you go mac, you'll never go back"

Well then you were doing something wrong.

Computers do not get infected with viruses or malware without some user intervention.

I have a Mac. What do you think I'm doing here. I also have PCs. They are both computers, Tools to be used.

yes but also macs come with bootcamp to use windows or lion and also you get the applecare and the quaity percision cut aluminum with a beautiful glass multitouch trackpad like no other. but for ipad vs macbook... i have both but in your position, trust me macbook air with superdrive and external drive optional for itunes is definitally your best choise. for you this is my reccomendation http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC969LL/A? but feel free to customize the storage, prosesser (i5 or i7) and any adapter you want

An iPad is a wonderful adjunct to a computer, but it's no substitute for one. It has very limited storage capacity, doesn't run any standard Mac OS or Windows software, and requires a separate keyboard for efficient writing or notetaking. You can't have two or more documents open side by side for reference. It's useful, but not like a notebook computer.
