Yes this worked for me too.
Will still ring and vibrate as normal but not while you are on a call
This is truly an annoying problem, it doesn't only happen with notifications it also happens with alarms and remainders going off in your ear during a call!! Please fix this it is truly a bug!
When your on a call the only thing that should be going off in your ear is the other person's voice at the other end! Vibration I could live with, but sound alarms!! Come on Apple!
The lack of this function only makes sense it you have an Apple tattoo.
Only then would you think having alarms and notifications going off in your ear while having a phone conversation is ok.
The Kool-Aid runs deep...
There is an App called AutoSilent which has been available for a few years. As of today it came out with a new update (one that I actually requested) in which it will mute the phone during calls. No text alerts, no calendar alerts, etc. while on a call. It works. Great job AutoSilent. Check it out for yourself.
Thanks but the App Auto Silent won't work during calls... That area is restricted by Apple. Only Apple can change the behaivor of alarms durings calls. But Thanks!
It's a new update, and yes it does work. I've tested it several times today with calendar alerts and text alerts and it mutes during the phone call. If you don't believe me try it yourself.
I believe you, does it has an automatic setting that would always be on, so that it would mute alarms during phone calls. Not some time limited setting but rather a long term undifined period? Thanks
In the AutoSilent App settings there is a slider "Mute During Phone Calls" Activate that and as long as the App is running you should be good. Now, this is a brand new update so who knows if there will be any glitches. What I do know is that I contacted them 3 weeks ago asking if they could create this option. They responded back to me within a day saying that it should be no problem to create. They actually assumed that the phone muted during calls and had no idea that this was even an issue! Then they sent me an email this morning letting me know about the new update. These guys are great!
Hi,
I realize this is an old-ish thread, but today I Googled "ios block notification when on a call", and this link came up. I tried cjbigham's suggestion to purchase the AutoSilent app from the AppStore for $3. I'll admit I was reluctant because nowhere in the app description did it say it would "Mute During Phone Calls", however, cjbigham was quite explicit that it had this functionality. So, I tried it, and I can confirm that it does in fact do this. However there's a catch, and for me it was a deal breaker: You have to give it access to your location settings, and it apparently tracks your location constantly -- even if you're not using the location based features. Why on earth this requirement, I have no clue. But hopefully this comment will help someone else make an informed decision before spending $3. Now I'm off to leave feedback for Apple so hopefully they can add proper support for this feature in a future release.
Good day.
Thanks aqua.
I am constantly frustrated at this as well. This was the first link that came up.. was thinking about trying that app but was reluctant given how old the response was. I'm glad you tested it out even within the last year. I'll see if they fixed the location thing, otherwise I'll have to look for something else.
Does this work good? Turning iff phone nitifications seems to be more than a work around!
Hey
I tried the same, but my phone still does vibrate upon recieving a whatsapp message even when I am on a call.
