Flashing Folder at bootup after OSX Install

hey everyone i have a problem that me bieng a beginner mac person i just cant solve, i have a PowerBook G3 300mhz 192MG RAM 8 GB HD that came with 8.6 performed a clean install of OS X 10.1.3 few days ago everything whent perfectly until the next day when i turned it on it just whent to the gray screen with a flashing folder with a question mark, i tried all the normal cures resetting the PRAM and ect.. but no go , thinking this was maybe a bug i performed a clean install of 10.1.3 again and updated it to the latest with the software update last night. I got up this morning to find the very same problem again. i have no clue what to do from here any suggestions?

Apple's specs were written when the Wallstreet was released and there were no low-profile 128 and 256 modules, so the max the Wallstreet could physically accept was a 64 in the bottom and a 128 in the top. Since there are now low-profile 256s for the bottom and standard height for the top, the Wallstreet will run 512MB total, but the 256s must be certified to run in the Wallstreet since they have a different architecture than a generic 256. The memory controller can actually address a total of 1GB but nobody makes the special 512MB modules.

You may have seen the other thread where Michael is having the same problem as you; he swapped RAM with his Lombard and it made no difference. My suggestion to you earlier regarding the RAM may not apply, so I would hate to see you spend money on memory with no positive results. The item you two have in common is the large HD...whether your two Wallstreets are sensitive to some drives and not others I cannot answer. Michael is going to try another drive so you may want to wait and see his results.
