How to remotely access Time Capsule using iCloud and firmware 7.6.1?

I have just applied the new Time Capsule 7.6.1 firmware that supposedly enables remote access to the drive via iCloud. However, how precise would this work?

I have read several other threads here and elsewhere but they either explain how to do this using MobileMe or DynDNS.

How precisely does iCloud now translate my internal IP to an external one and where do I access my drive in OSX when on the road?

Ok. that all looks fine..

When I try and access your IP I get no response..

Why are you forwarding to 192.168.1.201?? If you have nothing there.. the packets will go into nothingness.

If you want to access the TC remotely you need to use the TC address.

It is 192.168.1.1 not 192.168.1.201

And you do not even need to do port forwarding.. let me suggest you cancel the port forwarding and just try to connect.

AFP://YourpublicIP

The address translation is not required.. and you have ticked for WAN access to the disk.. that opens AFP protocol to the LAN side automatically.

I am also not sure why you are also then using BTMM .. You stated you wanted to use port forwarding.. the traceroute to icloud is pointless. You need it to go to your Router.

Hello Mini-Mac. for accessing home surveillance cameras (the dvr connected to the 4th. gen. TC) via internet or vMeye iOS app, do I have to do the same procedure with back to mac or no? I would like to avoid the payment for dyndns or fix IP address. Is there any solution for checking my cameras from distance?

Thanks in advance! Tizso
