How to import RSS feeds?

Hello everyone. I have OS 10.6.8 and Mail program v.4.5

I had to create a new mail account. How can I import the RSS feeds from my old account? I have a time machine backup. I've tried replacing the plist but it doesn't work. Thank you.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 4GB's of RAM 2.66 Intel Core i7

You had to create a new email account? Why? What was wrong with the one you had?

I've tried replacing the plist but it doesn't work.

Unless you know what a file is for, don't try to mix and match parts; you'll end up doing something you can't recover from.

Go to your Home/Library/Mail folder and list all the files in it (not the POP or IMAP account folders).

I created a new account b/c my old one was jammed and couldn't receive messages. There was an outgoing message stuck in limbo. The technician advised me to create a new account which fixed the problem. The only thing is, I lost all my presets (i.e. signatures, RSS feeds, etc). I've been able to reestablish everything else with the expection of my RSS feeds.

The files contained in my Home/Library/Mail folder are: AvailableFeeds; BackupTOC; DefaultCounts; Envelope Index; LSMMap2; Mailboxes (Folder); MessageRules; Metadata (Folder); OpenedAttachments.plist; RSS (folder);

SearchHistory.plist; Signatures (folder)

Thank you for your help.

There was an outgoing message stuck in limbo.

You didn't need to create a new account; there's an easy way to get rid of "stuck" messages, if you know what to look for.

To solve your RSS Feed problem, try this:

1. Quit Mail if it's running.

2. In Home/Library/Mail, copy the AvailableFeeds file and RSS folder to the same location for the new account you created (it will ask if you want to ovewrite them if they already exist, so you should say 'Yes' to that.

3. Restart Mail and see if your RSS feeds work properly.

Kurt so sorry about the belated reply. You've been a tremendous help. Thank you so much!! Two more quick questions:

1) My RSS feed reappeared like before but some do not work and none of them show more than 25 of the previous feeds. When I go to the RSS folder (Home > Library > Mail > RSS) the older entries are there and I can open them manually (command+O). How can I get the old entries back in Mail?

2) You said there was an esier way to fix the email in limbo problem. How?

Thanks so much. Really appreciate the help.

I believe some don't work because either they "expired", the URL changed, or the article was removed. I'm sure the number appearing is due to the time you have the preferences set to remove feeds.

I would think you have to go to the RSS section of Mail's preferences and set the time for it to remove feeds.

2) You said there was an esier way to fix the email in limbo problem. How?

If an email is "stuck" in the Outbox, you should be able to remedy that problem like this:

1. Quit Mail if it's running.

2. Go to Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Outbox.mbox

3. Delete the message inside Outbox.mbox

4. Go back to mail and restart it.
