ipad 2 no longer takes screenshot

I'm a big screenshot taker, and for some peculiar reason i can no longer take screenshots on my ios5 ipad2.

I'm not exactly sure when this happened, and can only guess that it's because I've installed a conflicting app or something. The reason I say this, is because independently, both the home and standby button still work fine.

It's very perplexing.

Unfortunately, the nearest apple store is distance away, thus hoping someone out there has experienced the same issue and found resolution.

It's probably worth noting observations and resolutions I've already attempted to no avail

  1. Apps/updates that I installed around the time I first noticed this occuring including evernote, skitch, html egg to name but a few). I'm not blaming them, but just adding them on the offchance a searcher has similar probs.
  2. Closing all apps
  3. Rebooting (holding both btns till it goes black and the apple icon reappears)
  4. Changing the order in which i depress each button
  5. Changing the time between the depress and release
  6. I also have an iphone4 on which i can take screenshots without problem
  7. I have no other issues with the ipad

Any help much appreciated.

Alas, the assertiveness gave me a glimmer of hope... but nada!

PS i also read that there was a multi-tasking gestures issue that may cause this. But again, nothing from my end.

PPS i've also heard of some general>accessibility>assistive touch> cause. Yet again, no dice!

PPPS yet more proof of the buttons working... if i do as you say, yet press the home button twice within about a second (so not a true double click), the home button does its thing of backing up a level. And as soon as I release the sleep, it goes to sleep! = both are doing their independant jobs, just no joint screenshot

;(

This post may help, although i have sooo much work on my ipad and in multiple apps, i'm concerned i'll lose it all. If anyone in the same boat, wants to give it a try and report back, it would be appreciated

I was able to get my screenshots working again, but I had to delete the DCIM folder to do it which I know isn't a supported option here since you have to jailbreak to do that. The option that I would suggest is to sync your pictures up with iTunes and save the pictures you want to keep. Then you can delete every picture from your phone and take a backup AFTER. Restore in DFU and try again, otherwise you can restore in DFU and start a new phone and put your pictures back on the device as needed.

The error is due to a failure in the DCIM folder to properly render your pictures. This can be due to a misconfigured database file (I believe it's a SQLite database) and the iPhone cannot render "old" info properly due to this misconfiguration. Not sure why this is related to new screenshots outside of them not being placed in the same location as a Camera image is.

Let me know if this helps, like I said I had to delete my DCIM folder for things to be corrected.

Source of the problem identified: Good for Enterprise is the culprit

I noticed the "disabled screen capture" restriction from:

Settings>General>Profiles>Good Mobile Messaging>More Details>Restrictions

Important Note

Deleting the app, does not fix the problem

If you want to do a screen capture you'll need to click on the "Remove Profile" option under the "Good Mobile Messaging" area of

Settings>General>Profiles>

The second you remove it, the screen capture works again.
