My iPad is not charging

Last night when I went to go charge my iPad over night it wouldn't charge. I plugged it into the wall charger that it came with and it still wasn't working. I even tried my iMac this morning and it still wont charge. Please Help! I would like to use it again.

If you used the iPad wall charger, not by error an iPhone charger, there might yet be a problem with your port or something. Eleven hour charge is too long to just get 81% of capacity. On the other hand, if you can live with charging it overnight, it sure beats throwing it out and paying for a new one.

Good luck!

So, I am able to get my iPad to charge when it doesn't think it is. But when I plug it into my iMac it doesn't show up on iTunes. So, if there is an update for the iPad I can't download it because the computer isn't reading that there is an iPad conncented to the computer.

I even tried rebooting it while it was plugged in since that's how I was able to get it to charge in the first place. But that trick didn't work for the computer. Any other idea's on that?

Mine happened two days ago. It didn't show the 'not charging sign'. But I know it's definitely not charging, because I charged the whole night and it was still only 2%. Then after one day, my iPad seems to be charging again. But I think it's slower than when I first bought it. Mine is still under warranty, going to expire soon. I'm thinking if I should extend the warranty. But it's ex, $99 for one year.

I'm having the same problem have and ipad1 and suddenly showing charging but it's not charging - have tried different connectors and finally got it to charge over 1 day. I'm aware that the "Genius shop" are fairly useless, apart from clapping when someone buys something, so not sure what to do - even though it weighs a tonne compared to the new ones I can't afford to replace it and it's invaluable as i'm studying and have spondylitis of the neck so can't lug around laptops anymore. Anyone found any solutions to this?

Done that not helping - now keeps crashing and reverting to home screen whilst typing in apps, have noticed starts to go really slow - process wheel is turning continually and then reverts back to home screen - this is ridiculous, unimpressed that there are no diagnostics to try and work out what is going on - so far all i've heard is restore which i find in this day and age unacceptable as well, I also don't understand why they are selling antivirus apps on itunes and yet still maintain that no viruses have been found - this is contradictory.

I didn't see anyone say this, but one of the things I have figured out is that you must plug it straight into the wall via the USB power plug that comes with your iPad. The iPad doesn't seem to like the low voltage from the computers USB ports or even powered USB hubs.

With that said, yes it will charge while it is sleeping on the dock and saying it is not charging. However, if you want it to charge while using it, you have to plug it into the wall. It's stupid, but it is the world we live in. It is the only way to deliver enough power to sustain what you are doing with the screen on, and still have enough power to increase the charge. Even doing this, in some instances, will not actually charge the iPad due to using wifi, bluetooth, etc. If you just want a quick charge experience, plug it into the wall, and leave it to go to sleep. It will then charge at its full potential and speed.

-Cheers!
