After upgrading to 10.7.3, the BBC iPlayer application will not play videos in full screen any longer, the sound still plays but the screen is just black. Videos continue to play correctly when the application is in normal window-ed mode.
This is on a 2009 Core2Duo MacBook Pro 5,2.
Anyone else seeing this? And, if so, any ideas for a solution? Maybe we just have to wait for BBC to update iPlayer.
No problems here - have you checked for an update to iPlayer? 3.2.14 is the latest version I think.
Yup, got the latest iPlayer, Flash and Adobe Air, and have tried uninstalling / re-installing / fresh installing.
I can also reproduce this problem on my 13" 2009 MacBook Pro 5,5, similar model to the 5,2. So, am guessing it might have something to do with this generation machine and graphics drivers?
That is a possibility. I'll try on my older machine later today. I'm running it on a 2011 MBA
Same issue with me, black screen on full screen playback only.
Hi matgra, what machine are you running on? maybe there is a pattern to which machines get affected by this and which not (I'm still thinking graphics card drivers).

Same issue - black screen on fullscreen playback - also through to HDMI out.
Correction - was OK in full screen via Safari, but not with the desktop App.
I have the identical black fullscreen problem on a Mac Mini, 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5 with HD Graphics 3000. I tried the following: created a new user and reproduced the problem, re-installed 10.7.3 with the Combo updater, re-installed iPlayer, Adobe Air, Flash with latest versions (no different from what I had it turned out). None of this helped, so I assume that 10.7.3 has introduced the problem.
Exact same problem here. 2008 13" Macbook - black screen whilst programme is playing with iplayer desktop in full screen.
And the same problem here on a 2008 13" MacBook, got a black screen and sound in full screen on the desk top player.
Reinstalled iPlayer and have the same problem.
Updated all drivers and have the same problem.
Viewing in Safari full screen is fine, no problems?
Fixed the problem for now by reverting to 10.7.2 from a backup. I will await a fix from Apple or Adobe.

No fix will be forthcoming from either company. Contact the BBC and tell them their desktop player is broken. It is their job to fix their software. Perhaps next time they will test it.

The problem arose immediately after a system update and I fail to see how Adobe or the BBC could anticipate that. I do not lay blame on anyone, and it is far from clear who exactly should fix it. I have contacted the BBC.
I blame the BBC. Developers have access to pre-release versions of the operating system and to documentation that identifies correct usage and obsolete functions. It seems that BBC takes the easy route and just relies on Adobe's cross-platform tools. Had they used HTML5, it woudln't have broken in the first place.
I would be more than happy to try to fix the problem if someone would buy a plane ticket to London where the BBC Player will actually work on my machine.
I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2011. I have just updated to 10.7.3 and am suffering with the same black screen playback using the BBC iplayer desktop on fullscreen.
I have contacted Apple support who have advised that it is a 3rd party app so not their problem.
Tried uninstalling both iplayer and adobe air then reinstalling both.
Problem still here.
