10.7.3 no wifi connection after wakeup

Since 10.7.3 update, I have to manually reconnect to my WiFi network at every Wakeup from sleep.

It WILL try to connect by itself, but it will quit trying after 6-8 seconds.

The WiFi icon in the menu bar will then remain gray until I click on it and manually choose my WiFi network.

It DOES reconnect automatically upon Restart, though.

My WiFi network comes from a third generation Time Capsule, with the most recent updates applied.

Had no such problem yesterday in 10.7.2.

Yes, but Apple care is interested only in not disappointing their customers! It's a shame that a team of super engineers isn't able to find a solution to the wifi connection. Apple care wants you to keep Lion 10.7.3 and reassure you that this is a good update. Up to now Lion 10.7.3 hasn't introduced any important innovation. Apple since July 20th (the launch day of Lion) hasn't been able to manage the wifi problem. I have a 6 year Windows XP pc and I never experienced such problems with wifi. Moreover I have even a Ubuntu pc which is free and it's OS hasn't any problem with wifi. Apple care is kidding us! At first they seemed not to know the issue with the wifi! They sad on the phone: "you're the first customer to signal this kind of problem with wifi after having installed Lion 10.7.3". Then when it was clear that Lion update has another huge issue with wifi they say:" our Engineers are working to fix the OS inability to reconnect to wifi after exting sleep mode". I have heard this silly story too many times. Apple doesn't know how to fix the problem but it doesnt' want to disappoint its customers. Well I have the courage to say Lion 10.7.2 it more riliable then 10.7.3 version. The downgrade takes 3 hours. You don't need to have a back-up, just reboot your system and press cmd+r while rebooting, than select reistall Lion. Your Mac will donwload the 10.7.2 version and reinstall it, without loosing data or programs! After downgrade my Mac is better then ever! Please don't listen to what Apple care specialists say, they tell you what Apple marketing manager want in order not to disappoint their customer. They really don't know which is the bug, and in any case the update will be available with 10.7.4 version so until June we don't have any fix!

In another discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3716945?start=30&tstart=0 levi89 offers a solution which did the job for me. He installed the network kext from OSX 10.6.3. He provides a download with the network kext and a kext utility. After unpacking the two files in the archive you simply drag the kext onto the utility and let it do the rest. After a minute my iMac 21,5" mid 2010 was cured. I didn't have any more trouble after wakeup until now, stable for two days now.

So after following this thread for a while now....with my 11 month old imac 27" I5....I have had so many problems but twice now, I (new user didn't really know this until recently) clicked on repair permissions, and i can now connect to Wi Fi by clicking the mouse upon a 12 hr or more sleep.

I was using (as suggested here) the tap on the power button which worked, but after what I did last night, the imac connects to Wi Fi no problem.

Weird i know, and not a solution for everyone it seems.

I also posted on another thread a while ago, several times regarding my Imac not even waking from sleep, as many others did too!

This was addressed by repairing permissions.

That's all i did !!

I had windows based machines for 16 years and brought this Imac new 11 months ago...I have had 2 power supplies all of a sudden just die on me!! (replaced under warranty by the local Mac outpost). I love what this machine can do but boy.....loads of crap going on and not much help from Apple. I even brought the extended Applcare after my first 2 nightmares with this machine!!

i think it may be worth it!!

Good luck all....... these problems seem to be unable to be fixed for all, but there is a trend and it is the updates they send out, all of a sudden you have problems you never had before!!

simonb 1964, I tried your suggestion and so far it seems to be working! (...so far...). Thanks. Anyway, I'm a longtime mac user and, in my experience, this kind of problem is pretty rare. I wouldn't go back to a PC if they were giving them away. My iMac rocks and I'm very happy with it... although I would have liked to stay with Leopard since it worked fine for me. Hopefully Apple won't go down hill now that SJ is gone.

Does anyone read the fix for this thread?

The fix was the original poster switched back to his D-Link Router.

That is not a fix....

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3704354?start=0&tstart=0

There is no fix for this at this time for many users....

Again, this thread should not have been checked as being solved.... IT IS NOT.......

This entire thread should be deleted......
