10.7.3 - late 2011 iMac - update broke returning from sleep and connecting to wi-fi...

Installed the update and what wasn't a problem is now a problem.

The computer will not connect to wifi without me telling it to after coming out of sleep. Was not an issue with 10.7.2.

I hear ya! I know it's not a big deal to click on the Airport Menu and bring it back online, however, this creates a major problem for my particular circumstance:

I have my iMac set to automatically restart after a power failure/power interruption (which does happen around here every now and then), so that means when I'm out of town and this happens, my iMac will NOT go back online like it's supposed to. This is unacceptable because I have two live webcams connected to my iMac, and I also use "Back to my Mac" in order to connect with my desktop from my laptop while I'm away (to access files and to keep my Quicken accounts updated).

I've read through the discussions boards, and there are literally thousands of posts regarding this topic. It is definitely narrowed down to one thing: OS 10.7 Lion. There is NO doubt in my mind that Lion is the cause. What's upsetting is that there does not seem to be a fix for this, and Apple has not addressed it in their software updates either. It is very annoying and it disrupts my business.

I'm having the same issues after updating to 10.7.3 last night on my iMac (mid-2010) and MBAir (2011). On the iMac, Wifi drops after coming out of sleep mode. Oddly, it does not happen on my Air, where bluetooth is OFF. Bluetooth is ON on the iMac.

I've set Sleep to Never in the settings, which is fine for an iMac that is always connected to power, but not so good for you laptop users. If this issue persists, I may reconnect my iMac with an Ethernet cable until Apple fixes it.

Same problem for me on my late 11 imac i5 10.7.2, i ran the client 10.7.3 update and after that when the mac went to sleep id come back to wake it up and id loose the wifi ( greyed out)

I then read about the combo update fixes all isues, i ran that after restoring from time machine 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 same problem again !

I'm back on 10.7.2 where every thing just works like it should, i am going to wait for Apple to give out a wifi fix ....Until then i'm staying put on 10.7.2

iMac mid-2011 with 10.7.2 reinstalled. Same wifi issue as being reported above. Have two mid-2011 iMacs and both had the same wifi issue after installing 10.7.3. Reinstalled 10.7.2 on both and wifi works as it should after restart and coming out of sleep. Router is Airport Extreme that is a few years old but does wifi n.

Same issue for me. Both my MacBook and iMac weren't connecting to wifi automatically. I installed the client combo of 10.7.3 and it fixed the issue on both machines AT FIRST. On my iMac when I switched the airport to connect to the N band of my router (i have a dual band router) it then stopped connecting automatically. I switched back to the other band and still no luck. Really weird. I left both computers on sleep mode and am now at work. Will see what happens when I get home.

Hi RocP

I did a fresh client combo update 10.7.3 this afternoon on my iMac 2011 but before i ran it i closed all open programs and clossed the Airport Wifi.

Then i ran the update to 10.7.3 and once the mac came back to life and settled down i turned the Airport Wifi back on and iv tested sleeping the mac and waking it and evry time the Wifi switches on and works flawlesly evry time!

So to re cap, tuen your Airport Wifi off Before Running the Client Combo then let it load and re start let it settle and click the Airport Wifi back on and you'll have no more problems

Yes i did too, i allowed Apple software update download the Client version of 10.7.3 and it restarted when it had finished loading, seemed okay... it was a bit later on when id let my iMac 21.5 i5 go to sleep i returned to find the Wifi greyed out sure i could click it back on but thats no how its supposed to run.

I read loads of posts on the subject and after a lot of frustration i restored back to 10.7.2 from the time machine, it was earlier today i downloaded the Client Combo 10.7.3 and thought id turn the Wifi off and close evrything apart from finder and let it load.

It lodaed and restarted looked good Wifi was on.. i left it for a while and iv let sleep quiet a few times today and evry thing is as it should be, Wifi come back on straght away..

I never touched my router, as 10.7.2 worked fine no problem since i got back in last October it was only the night before last when my mac upated and the Wifi keept turning off after a sleep, i am prety sure its the software update Client version that gave me the problem. 🙂

I get what you are saying. The point I am trying to make is that at first the client combo version fixed the wifi issues caused by the client version. However, when I changed which band of my dual band router the airport connected to, it stopped connecting automatically again. So, I guess that if I re-download the client combo version, if it even fixes the issue, I will have to pick the band I want to use from the get go and never change it.

Id say yes just pick one net band and asign Airport to it, if you had 2 avalable network bands going there's a conflict for Airport surly..

You might find things are as they should be with your Wifi so sort out which band your going to use and stck to it, asign it to your Airport and try it out,if its greying out after sleeping re run the Client Combo
