640 x 480 Video Being Exported As 720 x 480

A few years ago I created (essentially) a video slide show in Final Cut Pro by importing 640dpi x 480dpi TIFF files and exporting them as a QuickTime movie. I'm trying to recreate the video using Final Cut Express HD, but every time I export the file, all of the 640dpi images are stretched to 720dpi. How do I export it as 640 x 480?

Mac OS X (10.4.5), Final Cut Express HD 3.0

if you put a 640x480 image in the FCE timeline it will have a black edge around it because it's not standard format size. It's aspect ratio is adjusted to accommodate the change in pixel aspect ratio. You can see this in the Distort section of the Motion tab.

If the scale the image to fit the screen you're scaling it to 720x480 with its digital video aspect ratio. If you really want it 640x480, like for web display, then you have to export to QuickTime Conversion and use a custom size that 640x480.
