I already have a nook acount and now have an iPad , iam trying to get the nook app but I keep getting asked to make an account with a credit card account

Do you mean iTunes is asking for a credit card, or did you successfuly download the Kindle App for to your iPad?
If you have not yet set up your i tunes account, they will want you to sign up before they let you get anything from the store, even the free nook app. If you already have an i tunes account, make sure you are signed in under your account.

I have the iTunes app but didn't know I would have to give a cc number, so there is no way to get the free nook app without giving acc?

You can create an iTunes Store account without a credit card. Attached is a link. Follow the directions and you will be able to download free apps, but never one that requires payment:

I guess half the art is understanding the question in the first place. Sometimes i go back and read some of my own answers, and realize i missed the whole point of whatever question the guy was asking.
