Compatible Printers

What is the compatible printer list for the Airport Express station? I have a Canon PIXMA IP6000D, will that work?

weird - I JUST started a job with that very same printer and have no end of difficulties with it.....I can get it to print wirelessly using Gimp-Print P1000 on the driver list, but it has to CONSTANTLY be re-installed, and today, stopped being recognized by any computer at all....whatever.

is there really no hope? and why don't people check these things before buying the printer and wasting the money??

bah!

hi there.

im having a strange problem with HP LaserJet 1022 and AirPort Express.
the printer is recognised properly (it is mentioned on iFelix compatibility list as well), but as soon as i want to add it to the printer list, the printer-utitility crashes and the printer is not added! usb printing instead works fine...

i'm running 10.4.8 APEX 6.3 and the latest hp driver installed from their website.
any ideas or solutions?

thanks a lot! *simon

I just used the "Airport Setup Assistant."

If you had the printer setup previously on your
computer I would do several things: First make sure
your Airport firmware and MP780 printer driver are up
to date (got to both Apple and Canon websites for
these.) Then reset the airport by holding in the
reset button with the paper clip, then go to "Print
and Fax" in Sytem preferences and remove the printer.
Now you can plug your printer into the Airport run
the setup assistant and go back to system pref's and
add the printer using bonjour.

Good luck!

Hi Yank,
I've been on phone with Applecare on this for 3 hours over two days. They finally had me call Canon who told me no can do.

I was able to do most of what you said...when I get to the dialogue box in the Printer Browser to actually add the printer it sees the MP780 with Bonjour, so I highlight that. But when I go to "Print Using..." and select Canon, it gives me a choice of printers none of which is the MP780. I clicked on the last one, Canon S800, and it does print and seem to keep my page alignments. But when I try to customize it for just B&W printing, everything prints in grayscale unless I make the output mode CMYK under Printer Features. I just hate wasting all that color ink.

Did you run into this or something similar?

You were able to get the MP600 printing wirelessly? I can't!!!! I tried reinstalling the drivers and all that to no avail.

Can you please email me at donaldgormanly@verizon.net ??? I could seriously use some help on this. If I can't get this printing over my AirPort network, I may have to get rid of the printer. But, I really like it!

Hope to hear from you!

Just to add to a previous post that I have my new Canon MP 600 working perfectly.
I have used a FabPrint2 driver for Airport Express but I seem to have to revert to the generic driver for the USB connection printing !!
The generic driver was working but the FabPrint2 is better.
Text and images are perfect, scanning I have not yet tried.
I struggled for 3 weeks with a new HP C 4180, until HP acknowledged that nothing would make it work - I did try iFelix's suggestion of the driver but it didnt work for me.
MP 600 much better and quieter ( if a bit bigger )
It seems to me that HP have blocked Apple on their new range of printers and that fact should be made clear to all Mac users - particularly in the Apple Stores

I have a Color LaserJet 2500 that you say you have tested personally. Have you tested it with the new 802.11n Airport Extreme. Mine worked fine with the old Airport but doesn't work with the new Airport Extreme (n). Do you know of any work around?

I have solved the problem with printing from AEBS(n) to an HP Color LaserJet 2500. It was a speed problem. I inserted an old USB 1.0 hub between the AEBS(n) and the printer and everything works just as it did with the old AEBS. I suspect this will solve the printing problems of most that were able to print from the old AEBS and not from the AEBS(n).
