Compatible Printers

What is the compatible printer list for the Airport Express station? I have a Canon PIXMA IP6000D, will that work?

Hi all,

I too am trying to get a Canon 4200 to work via AirPort Express. It is compatible as others have confirmed.

I can do basic printing OK. However, it will not print double-sided via APEX - although it will print double-sided when the printer is connected directly to the computer. (It will only print double-sided if I select 'automatic duplex printing' as the last option before pressing OK, and does not remember this for the next time I print - but that is anothe issue.)

I would be grateful if anyone can confirm the compatibility of double-sided printing on a 4200 via APEX, and provide any hints as to what I have not set to get this to work.

Thanks,

Daniel.

I have a Lexmark Z53 that works with the AE w/iTunes.

HP OfficeJet 7130 All-In-One printers do not complete the HP setup. You will have to setup the printer manually. You can actually print to them, but you will have to manually setup the printer and the HP setup software will constantly ask you to setup the printer upon login, but since the setup will not complete it never thinks you set it up.

I have a canon mp170. I loaded the drivers from the cd provided onto an powerbook running 10.4.7 and the power book cannot see the driver at all and hence won't print anything but blank pieces of paper. i've loaded the same drivers onto an ibook and the printer works fine. how do i fix it so it prints from my powerbook ok

An update on double-sided printing on a Canon i4200 via APEX.

It now works OK without me changing anything. I know this is not much help to someone who has a problem with it, but it should reassure you that it will work.

Both my printers (Canon and Samsung ML-1710) did disappear off my available printers list. It was after adding them back to my list of available printers that the double-sided printing worked OK.

Had the same problem w/the MP530 and finally got it fixed. Make sure you have the newest firmware for AEX - v6.3 - and the latest MP530 driver from canon - v4.8.0.

After installing both it should work. I did have to go into my printer setup delete the existing MP530 from the queue and add a new one. After I plugged it into the AEX, I had to delete it again in favor of the version with the bonjour connection. Mine seems to be working fine. Good luck!

iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I recently bought an HP C4180 all-in-one printer. I could not get the printer to work via airport extreme base station for my iBook G4 running on OS 10.4.7 nor my iBook running on OS 10.3.9. I was able to get it the one running on OS 10.4.7 to print by installing the HP printer - Photosmart P1100-Gimp--verison 5.0.0. beta 2 driver. But this method would not work for the iBook using OS 10.3.9.

I emailed HP and they replied with the following:
* For the OS 10.4.7 iBook it said to install the HP software, quit HP setup assistant, open the printer setup utility and select the printer, and change 'print using' to the Photosmart 1000 and then click add.

HP indicated that the only way I will be able to print from the iBook using OS 10.3.9 would be a direct connect to the computer and printer via USB.

Both computers work fine when they are connected directly via USB to the printer.
