I am testing a web app on my iPhone4. Seems like the watchPosition fails to use GPS, and degrades to what seems like cell tower estimation. Is this a bug or a feature? Is it "disabled" to prevent excessive battery drain?

Are you using PositionOptions with enableHighAccuracy when setting up your callback using watchPosition?
Yes. High accuracy is enabled.
