iPad Camera Connection Kit and Movies

I am planning to take my 16GB iPad travelling. I have a number of movies in .m4v format that will not all fit on my iPad. If I take some movies on a USB flash drive or SD card, can I use the Camera Connection kit to transfer them onto the iPad. Can I transfer movies off the iPad back to the drive if I need to make room on the iPad? Basically I'm interested if the camera connection kit can server as external storage for the iPad.

do you know of any way to convert videos purchased off itunes (without losing quality) into a format that will play in the photos app?

I need to convert them so they will work with the camera connection kit: I only have a 16gb iPad.

You can't convert them. If you can't store them on the iPad then there are some wifi-enabled drives that allow you to stream content to the iPad e.g. GoFlex Satellite

Look at the Kingston WiDrive. Can be had for pretty cheap. It's very portable.
