iphone 4 mail with error message cannot get mail the user name or password for "apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect.
On my iPhone 4, I recently downloaded the game app, Zynga Poker (same company who produced Words With Friends). The game app requires players to sign in with their Facebook account or sign in as Guest, I chose to sign in with the Facebook account. I have been playing the game for about a month, for some reason, it won't let me login to the game... but it is asking me to login with a different Facebook account, I chose not to. What I don't understand is this, the e-mail I used for the Facebook, all of the sudden gave me an error message on my iPhone saying that your mail cannot be accessed/updated with that e-mail account. All of the other e-mails I use on my iPhone can update and receive mails automatically just fine, but with that particular e-mail account it keeps having error notices pop up on my iphone (quite annoying); I tried changing the web-mail password from my laptop, and then tried changing the e-mail account password on my iPhone 4, it doesn't work; I tried deleting the account and re-creating it, it still doesn't work.
I tried resolving the issue by the doing the following Step-by-Step on my iPhone 4 AFTER I have changed my webmail from my laptop:
1. Touched 'Settings'
2. Touched 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars'
3. Touched the e-mail account I am having issues with.
4. Touched the 'Account myemailaddress@yaho... >' button
5. Changed my password to correspond with what I had changed on my webmail - on my laptop.
6. A window pops up and displays the following:
'Cannot Get Mail
The user name or password for
"apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com' is
incorrect.'
I tried resolving the issue by deleting the account and re-adding it on my settings by doing the following:
1. Touched 'Settings'
2. Touched 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars'
3. Touched 'Add Account... >'
4. Touched the 'Yahoo!' button
5. Didn't enter under 'Name,' but entered under 'Address,' and entered my new password under 'Password."
6. A window pops up and displays the following:
'Cannot Get Mail
The user name or password for
"apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com' is
incorrect.'
I have paid this ridiculous new fee of $69.00 for Apple Care and called the tech support, NONE of them have a clue! I have looked up several discussion forums, a lot of people/users/customers have the same exact problem, but no solution to resolve this! No articles from Apple, no solutions from Apple, nothing.
The tech support responded with this, "Apple will only post an article about this issue only if there is enough of complaints about it..." I then responded with this, "I think Apple should not only write an article but write a new patch to resolve this problem even if it's A complaint from ONE customer! That way, which I'm sure the same problem will re-occur again, it will SAVE BOTH the Tech Supporters', MY TIME, and OTHER CUSTOMERS' time in the future! It's ridiculous that they put me on hold three times for a total of TWO HOURS trying to get this problem solved, and what do I get in the end AFTER PAYING $69.00, and TWO HOURS OF MY LIFE that I will NEVER get back??? Is this, "I'm sorry, we cannot help you."
Great job Apple, just FANTASTIC, ingenious how you rob people of THEIR MONEY AND TIME in a time like this where our economic situation is at the bottom of the barrel!!!!
