The included shapes are very basic it seems. I'd like to create a 1/4 circle (or other ratios, say 1/8 etc). In fact, I'm using an illustration of an empty pipe and would love to have a 'dynamic' filling of the pipe up to a defined level such as 1/4 or 1/3 full. I'll settle for drawing the empty pipe (a circle, basically) and then the same circle partly filled to a horizontal level.
Any ideas of how to do this?

This is how you draw a 1/4 circle in Keynote.
1. Make a pie-chart
2. Edit the diagram data and make it only to have two columns
3. Add the number "25" to the first column and the number "75" to the second column
4. Click on the pie-chart with the number "75" and edit the color filling to none
5. Erase all the shadows etc with the checkboxes
Tada! you got yourself an 1/4 circle

Keynote 5.3:
1. Create the circle shape in Keynote, select it, copy it, open Preview and use File > New from Clipboard, and save the drawing.
2. Import the circle drawing you just created to the slide in Keynote
3. Draw a square and place it so that a corner coincides with the center of the circle.
4. Use the Format > Mask with Selected Shape menu command.
Keynote 6.2:
1. Create the circle shape.
2. Create a square shape and position it so that a corner coincides with the center of the circle.
3. Select both shapes and use the Format > Shapes and Lines > Intersect Shapes menu command.
Keynote really isn't illustration software but it does have a pen tool to make custom shapes and you can start with a circle shape, make it editable and modify it how you want. Then use an upward wipe animation to simulate the pipe filling. People need to use the right software for the right job but if you want to pound in a nail with a screwdriver, it's possible, just harder.
if it's only partial circles you want, I suppose you could get the shape from a pie chart that's mostly colorless but that seems a little convoluted.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of the wipe animation but that does well enough for this newbie. I was only thinking that a couple more generic preformed shapes would have been handy such as 1/4, 1/2 etc circles but I was able to approximate it with the bezier drawing tool.
