Updated wife's iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1 and

Settings > Phone > My Number

shows UNKNOWN.

I assume this prevents imessages and sms messages from working because they are not going through, unless she has wifi signal.

She does not have 3g service so if she wanted to send an iMessaage without wifi signal, the phone should automatically switch to sms... and it doesn't.

All messaging settings are on: iMesages and Send as SMS.

I tried my sim from my iPhone 4 on 5.0.1 on her phone and get UNKNOWN number as well.

Tried her sim on my phone and her number shows. So it's definitely an issue with her phone.

Any ideas how to fix this.

hey there.. i had the same issue.. and turns out it was sim Fault not a bug in iOS... make sure you have enough credit in your sim Card for that to work.. means 1$ .. 1- Restart iPhone 2- Settings -> Messages -> Turn iMessage On 3- wait 3-5 minutes .. depends on your internet conenction and load on Apple servers// 4- your number would automatically be in Phone

Product name: iPhone 5s

iOS version: 9.3.4

Problem: Setting->Phone->Number->Unknown and I cannot change it. Also, iMessage and FaceTime
are not activated by my cellphone number. (They are fine with apple ID but I want them by my number)

Troubleshooting: I have tried: (but didn't get any success)

1. Reset network setting

2. Restore iPhone

3. Turn 'the airplane mood' on; turn the wifi on; go to number in phone setting and try to change it. However, phone number is not changeable. It is fixed and I cannot edit it.

Please help me how can I solve my problem?
