iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 127) after installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows

After installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows (latest build), I get an error pop-up saying:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes

Error 7 (Windows error 127)

I've gone thru the uninstall, reboot and reinstall process three or four times now. Still nothing.

Furthermore, after clicking okay to the error, it continues to pop up on it's own every 45 seconds or so.

There was one other error I came across after trying to launch iTunes after installation.

See both error messages here:

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)

Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Then head into your Uninstall a Program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and click "Repair".

Does iTunes launch properly now?

I've done every single solution on this thread, multiple times, and my iTunes still won't install correctly. This happens every single time I update iTunes and, honestly, I'm sick of it.

I recently changed my phone service back to an Android platform and I'm actually looking forward to my old iPod dying so I'll have a concrete reason to just start using my phone as a music player, and never using another Apple product.

My itunes was working fine. I hadnt updated to the latest version yet. However suddenly whenever I tried accessing the itunes Store the app would crash and I started getting the two error pop ups from the beginning of this thread.

I followed some of the sthe directions from http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. I also deleted QTMovieWin.dll.

Now when I try opening iTunes I get a pop up advising

"The procedure entry point AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll

Anyone?

Try the second box of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. The AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey error appears to be associated with running version 2.3.4 of Apple Application Support when iTunes has been updated and requires version 3.0. A full tear down of the old install and a rebuild should fix things.

GREAT NEWS it worked this time

ok the link i posted earlier follow all those instructions in step 1 VERY carefully

then do step 2 and make sure all those files are gone

restart your computer and go to itunes and install it =D"

Thanks, this worked.

backstory: I was prompted to update from 11.2 to 11.3. When I opened it, it would crash after about 5 seconds. I tried installing it again from scratch and got error 127.

"Will my synced songs in my ipod be lost if I remove itunes and its components?"

Everything in my library is just the way it was before fixing the problem.

Thanks a lot Sabrina for the uninstallation plan and thanks Richard for the tip on QTMovieWin.dll.

1. I remove the QTMovieWin.dll from my C drive. Actually there were two of them stored in other folders that the ones mentioned.

2. I applied the uninstallation plan.

3. I reboot the PC and reinstall iTunes.

4. It is working fine.

Have a great day!

Thank you so much for this solution! It worked for me, too.

FYI: Windows users who have the Computer and Recycle Bin icons on their desktop can use those shortcuts instead of going through the folders as suggested in the article (I'm referring to STEP 2, part 1, "Choose Start > My Computer". You can use your "My Computer" shortcut icon if it is on your desktop. Also, STEP 2 parts 13 to 16, you can just use the recycle bin icon if it is on your desktop and empty the recycle bin. It really is the same thing, LOL!)
