iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 127) after installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows

After installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows (latest build), I get an error pop-up saying:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes

Error 7 (Windows error 127)

I've gone thru the uninstall, reboot and reinstall process three or four times now. Still nothing.

Furthermore, after clicking okay to the error, it continues to pop up on it's own every 45 seconds or so.

There was one other error I came across after trying to launch iTunes after installation.

See both error messages here:

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)

Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Then head into your Uninstall a Program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and click "Repair".

Does iTunes launch properly now?

I followed the instructions noted by Sabrina Gordon above - have done it 3 times without success.

I then followed HT1925 on the Apple Support website removing, as far as I can find, every trace of Apple from my PC, including iCloud, iDrive and any folders related to Apple, then emptying the Recycle Bin. I then restarted the PC and downloaded iTunes again - but no success - iTunes will still not reload. It is weeks since I could update my iPhone.

Apple products are very, very good when they work - but horrible when they don't.

Apple this has been going on since 2010 according to this support site - PLEASE SORT IT OUT!

In response to Emmzz246 I use Norton 360 rather than .avg and could find no reason for 360 to block iTunes or any relevant record in it's log.

However, following the suggestion of kencameron1949 i went to the link "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows" and found that useful.

It was an issue with iAdcore.dll and as simple as going into the ...\ProgramFiles(x86)\iTunes deleting iAdCore.dll and then going to "Control Panel\Programs and Features\iTunes" and right click "Repair".

My thanks to Emmzz246 and kencameron1949 - I can now update my iphone after a couple of months

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I had to speak to iTunes in the end (1 and a half hours later!!) and it turned out the the update was incompatible with my drivers and gave me an alternative version to download.

After uninstalling iTunes through the steps mentioned in this forum and them removed all traces of the old version, i installed iTunes through the following link iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

I have spent 10 hours over two days uninstalling everything, rebooting, deleting directories, etc., etc., etc., everything I have read elsewhere. Time and time and time again, continually getting error 7 each time. And FINALLY! I downloaded the version you included, and FINALLY got iTunes to install. What a waste of time over the last two days - but THANK YOU for posting this. I can't believe Apple really makes it this difficult to keep the software that their customers use up-to-date.
