How to keep track's compilation box in iTunes unchecked

Quite a few of my tracks have the compilations box checked and I would like to uncheck them. I am using iTunes match. After using the "Info" page to remove the check box for a track, the track is removed from the Music>Compilations list. However, within a few minutes the track is returned to the list and in iTunes the compilaton box is again checked. I am assuming that "match" is the culprit. How to make the removal of the compilations check stick?
