I'm pretty sure it was the latest lion update that has broken my mail.

To summarise from the arformentioned thread; I've not been able to access my mail via Mac Mail since the update, and mail has been throwing up countless errors (Screencaptured above).

I've tried removing my icloud/mail accounts and relisting them to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?

That's a valid server as far as I know. It does use several different addresses.

Make a new user account for test purposes. Log into iCloud from there. Open Mail and the account should be set up there once logged into iCloud. If you can send/recieve from there, then we can continue from there.

If it doesn't work from the new user account, then I would suggest you download the Combo Updater from Apple and reinstall the update over the other.

Just a note -- I don't even HAVE Lion, but because we can no longer keep Mobile Me (kind'a like "you can keep your own doctor" but then you find out you really can't -- political joke) I thought I'd at least update my iphone to iCloud, and accept some of the changes for iCloud from Mobile Me, and now MY MAIL won't send or receive from my regular mac mail address.

So Mobile Me was a good thing -- for me. I'd have been happy to "keep my own mobile me," and not have a "mandate" that if I want things to work I have to buy Lion to accommodate iCloud properly.

Well, I'm not Apple, but just another user. In reality, since I don't have an iPhone or iPad, I really have little use for iCloud. Just thought I'd keep up to date for later. Anytime major changes take place, you will definitely encounter problems. I suspect in the future, things will be much better and no one will be complaining.

I only thing I can see that bad is that MMe had real cloud storage (iDisk) as oppose to what iCloud offers. The biggest difference between MMe and iCloud from what I can see is a different server and different way to log into it to activate.

I've heard there was going to be a SL update to 10.6.9 to accomodate iCloud. I don't know if it will happen, but we'll see. I believe MMe will be active until July according to what I've read.

If the Mail you can't send or receive from is on your computer and is MMe, then it's because when you moved your MMe account on the iPhone to iCloud, it merged the address into the iCloud servers it changed the way it would have to be setup on the Mac in SL.

If that's the case, change your email settings on your mac to these:
