I am running VectorWorks 12.5 on a Macbook Pro. I am keen to upgrade from 10.6 to Lion however I am worried about these being compatible. Can anyone tell me if these will work together?

We are using VW 12.5 and Lion. We found you can not install VW 12.5 on machine with OS X lion (10.7), but if we migrated a user, with aplications, thr=en it works.
That said we are expereincing a few glitches and are finding we will now have to upgrade VW to maintain productivity.
I just got a new Macbook Pro (Lion 10.7.3) and cannot run 12.5.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Different machine architecture, (quad core, i7) might be the problem.
Could I run the older OS (10.6) on the new machine, or is it hopeless?
VectorWorks 12 should be a PPC application and won't work on Lion. Verify by highlighting the application and get info and check "Kind".
Just as important, you need to check all of your applications. No PPC application will run on Lion. A quick way to check all apps is to open System Profiler locater in the Utilities folder and slect applications in the list. It will show all application and whether or not they are Intel, Universal, or PPC.
You mentioned in a previous post that you are running Vectorworks 12.5 on Snow Leopard and it was working well. I have it installed, but it does not run well. It doesn't display properly, I can't see some lines, and there is a strange background on the margins. Any suggestions? I am also thinking of upgrading to Lion, but it does not look good for VW12.5 on the new system. In the meantime, could you tell me how I can get it to work as it should?
Hi, we have been running 12.5 on OSX 10.6 since it was released without any issues, we may have come to some minor gliches on occassion however nothing a restart hasn't been able to fix. Just to confirm; we are using Vectorworks Fundamentals 12.5.3. I can only suggest reinstalling it. Saying that I would also suggest looking to upgrad as soon as possible, I know this is an expensive option but it really is inevitable.
Thanks zdv, I bit the bullet and did the upgrade to 10.7 (lion) without any issues. VW12.5 seems to be running pretty well so I will carry on. I guess that is until the computer needs upgrading then I will see how I go with your comment, installing from scratch.
At the end if the day I am leaning toward ArchiCAD for 3D so this VW issue will become obselete.
I have VectorWorks 12.5 and have used it for years on my Dell 690 with XP-pro. I now have a PowerBook with OS - Lion. VW will not run in this OS because the 12.5 version is a Power-PC programming set. Has anyone attempeted to Boot Camp (windows 7) with the PowerBook Pro (Retina Display) - and run VW 12.5 ?

No, but it is not hopeless. 2009 works if you can get it.
Jeparch, yes it does. We have been running 12.5 on OSX 10.6.8 with no problems.
