Mail crashed when battery died. All email accounts and saved files gone. How to restore?

Just as I sent out an email message (mass mailing) my battery died on macbook pro using Leopard. When I reopened mail it was brand new and asked to set up an account! I know they're still in there somewhere...how do I restore all my emails/saved files/mailboxes? I do have a time machine backup from the day before this happened. Any suggestions?

Yes, re-entering the info, I'm not sure if the Description needs to be the same or not, I suspect it does, Incoming server doesn't really affect if it would now see the account or not, just couldn't get new email until we fix it, but old mail would hopefully show.

The info we need may or may not be on the backup in the file ...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

That's the one that holds all the account info.

Well...I added it. It automatically called it something different than I know I did but...whatever. Now, it is in the process of downloading every email I have ever gotten on that account! Something like 25,000 emails! Should I let it go or stop it?

Also, both this Yahoo acct and the Gmail acct have been entered (automatically by the Mail program) as POP Accounts. I foresee more fun ahead.

Thanks.
