Cant "friend" two phones on the same user id in Find My Friends App.

So if I understand you correctly an Apple ID is the same thing as an iCloud ID?

I created another Apple ID for my wife but have no idea how to implement that on her phone

so I track her with FMF. When I go to her phone prefs for iCloud and hit delete account it says

I'll lose all my iCloud docs and photostream images. If I delete that and add the new one

I created for her would that pretty much wipe my phone info as well?

The solution is not to use the same iCloud Apple ID ("User ID" is a forum term like "BCGuns.") - You can have multiple Apple ID's that are different from the iTunes account ID, so you can continue sharing your iTunes account.

Ok. The actual answer is likely not to use Find My Friends, but to use Find My iPhone instead.

FMF allows users of different accounts to see each other.

FMi works for users with the same account.

While it is a pain to have two apps it saves all the piddling around with creating new IDs within one account.

I find myself in the same boat as my wife and I share one account with Apple but would like to use

Find my Friends. Not sure what Apple's logic is to be able to track phones on the same account in Find

my Devices, but not in Find my Friends.....I do consider my wife as a friend :-)

So, if I have this right I can just add an Apple ID for her that will still use our joint iTunes account for billing etc.

that will allow her to be tracked in Find my Friends? Curious should that work will our photostreaming between

our devices still be possible?

You can have multiple Apple IDs, for different purposes such as iCloud account, iTunes/App Store account, forum membership, etc, They all can be different if you choose.

If you want to use Find My Friends to track your wife, she has to have a different iCloud account (and Apple ID) than you.

you can go to www.icloud.com and track the 2 differnt phones with the same apple id

Maybe a simpler question...is an Apple ID the same thing as an iCloud ID?

I set up another ID for my wife and used it for her iCloud access on her phone and all works great.
