Junk Mail filter on iPhone?

Junk Mail filter works fine on my iMac, but doesn't flow to my iPhone. How can I get my iPhone to "learn" junk mail?

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.1

you don't. Junk mail filtering happens at the level of your email server or a spam filter you install on your computer. There is no such product for the iPhone.

Hello all,

For iOS, within Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, there is a useful option to 'Load Remote Images'.

When you open a junk mail, any pictures that loads sends a response to the sender to inform them that your e-mail is active.

Turning off 'Load Remote Images' will prevent any images from loading in any e-mails. This means you will be able to safely open e-mails to check that it isn't spam.

If it isn't spam, then scroll to the very bottom of the e-mail and there will be an option to 'Load All Images', however only select this if you are absolutely sure that it isn't spam.

Hope the above helps, for now that seems to be the only junk mail protection feature for iOS, which is REALLY crummy. I'm hoping the next iOS will tackle this.

Lisa,

Australian Government, and Service Providers [such as Telstra] offer a SPAM reporting facility.

Reporting, by forwarding a copy via E-Mail worked for me.

I was receiving 500 to 1,000 SPAM a month.

Admittedly it is easy on my iMac: Junk filtering really works well, so it was just a matter of opening the Junk Mail Box once a day, and forwarding all of the offending messages to ACMA.

I am sure you will find a similar Service in USA.

To give you an idea of what is offered, here is a link to the Ozi site:
