"Authenticating with the iTunes Store..." forever when uploading via iTunes Producer

I can't upload my new book. It seems to validate within the app but when I click "Deliver", I just get "Authenticating with the iTunes Store…". It never gets past this step. The app logs me in fine?

Would love to hear how I get get past this hurdle and get my first book up there.

Many thanks

Mark

Forever has only been validated as taking at least 4 hours... :-(

Given this is my first attempt I am not sure what to expect. Does this message persist during the entire upload? To me "authenticating" means checking your login credentials. As in Authenticating the user. But I get the impression they could be authenticating the file at the server end?

thanks

I may have this solved. Certainly I am up and running now.

After trying many times I actually got an error message which idendified an area to look at. Authenticating with the iTunes store apparently does mean that the content is being validated and for some reason it was hanging on that process. On two attempts in about 20 it failed complaining:

ERROR ITMS-3000: "Line 386 column 27: element "audience" missing required attribute "scheme" at XPath /package/book/metadata/audience_info/audience"

ERROR ITMS-3000: "Line 386 column 38: element "audience" incomplete; expected element "range" or "value" at XPath /package/book/metadata/audience_info/audience".

I deleted and re-entered all the data. It now works. I noted that you can click the "Add Criteria" and it creates a blank criteria that is invisible in the list. It has no defaults and you cannot see it. I may have had an empty criteria sitting there and that was what it was complaining about.

2 Bugs then.

1. It should not hang on "Authenticating with the iTunes Store…"

2. It should not be possible to create empty Audience criteria that are invisible in the list.

I hope this helps someone else. It made my life misserable for a few days.

cheers

I have same problem. Please help me..

I have 'ERROR ITMS-3000: "Line 48 column 38: element "audience" incomplete; expected element "range" or "value" at XPath /package/book/metadata/audience_info/audience[1]"

Please tell me as detail as possible. I can't get it

deleted and re-entered all the data. It now works.

=> delete all ePub data? or iTunes producer data? I can't understand.

==> What you means that 1. Add Criteria and 2. keep blank?( I have to keep invisible list? )

Hi Dokdozikimi,

I understand your pain.

Sorry my explaination was unclear. I just deleted all "Target Audience" data. What I discovered was that there was an invisible entry that was invisible because it had no data in it. It is this entry that makes it throw the error. Please see the screenshot below. Note the blue bar. It represents and entry with no data in it. Note the "Remove Criteria" button is active. You should click it and remove the invisible entry. Check for others. Now try to upload it again. You should be fine.

cheers

****.. This worked for me :

  1. Logout from iTunes portal in all the browsers.
  2. Restart your Mac machine.
  3. Open Application Loader
  4. Click on your Apple Login in the Top Right corner of the Application Loader Window.
  5. Clicking Next will succeed your authentication process.
  6. Now, do your process as usual by clicking upon the "Deliver Your App" and following the procedure beyond that.

I searched all over the internet and nothing seemed to work for me and only It worked for me nearly after 2 days of struggling.

Hope it would save someone else's time.

Thanks saru2020, this tip worked for me. I didn't need to restart and did the following:

  1. Cancelled the submission process in iTunes Producer - and left the Submit / Cancel dialog open (so I didnt have to re-enter all the details again).
  2. Opened Application Loader.
  3. Signed in to the Application Loader.
  4. Once this has authorised me with iTunes Connect (a few seconds) I left Application Loader open then went back to iTunes Producer.
  5. Then clicked submit again

The process then jumped straight passed the "Authentication with iTunes" status it was stuck at and uploaded the book in a few minutes.

Hope that helps other and thanks once again saru2020 great tip!
